Perry's Keghan West takes the ball down the lane against ADM's Dylan Anderson as Alex Morales (44) looks on for the Bluejays during their first meeting of the season Dec. 14. The two rivals faced each other Friday in Adel.

ADEL — Dominant play in the middle quarters of both games helped propel ADM to a pair of Raccoon River Conference victories over visiting Perry Friday. Both Tiger squads earned seasons sweeps with their wins, with ADM claiming the girls bout, 68-39, while the hosts were 58-31 victors in the boys tilt.

The win in the nightcap helped the Tiger boys (8-6, 6-3) snap a four-game losing skid. ADM had opened 2019 with a one-point win over Bondurant-Farrar, but had then fallen in four straight, a stretch which included losses of three points to Pella, of seven points to Boone, of one to DC-G and of two to Ballard.

Perry (0-14, 0-9) helped the hosts celebrate their senior night by misfiring on their first nine shots from the floor. ADM hardly fared better, with a sloppy first quarter ending with the Tigers holding an 11-3 edge.

Separate runs of nine points, and then of seven, helped ADM seize control of the match in the second quarter and take a 33-11 lead into the intermission.

ADM outscored Perry, 22-12, in the third period as the Bluejay deficit swelled to 55-23. Jaxson Milsap hit a 3-point shot in the first minute of the fourth frame, but the Tigers did not score after that.

However, Perry could only manage eight points against the ADM reserves, and were able only to turn a 32-point deficit into one of 27 points. The eventual 58-31 loss was considerably more respectable than a humbling 63-10 throttling host Perry endured Dec. 14.

Mohamed Abdelnabi had 13 points and Brendan Ivory 12 for Perry, with Mario Cruz, Kato Dougan and Kegan West each adding two points. West had an impressive defensive outing and was unofficially credited with 14 rebounds and five blocked shots.

The ADM girls (11-6, 7-2) stayed in contention for a RRC title by steadily pulling away from a Perry team that showed resilience and played with high energy.

The Tigers owned a 14-8 lead after one quarter, then opened a 29-16 gap at the break. A 22-10 second quarter sealed the eventual outcome by moving the score to 57-26 with one stanza remaining. ADM had previously defeated Perry (1-15, 0-9) by a 64-24 margin in their Dec. 14 meeting.

Molly Lutmer led the Jayettes with a game-high 17 points. Jayna Kenney added seven points and Hannah Peterson six, with Ainsley Marburger scoring five points and Quinn Whiton and Peyton Tunink two apiece.

Delaney Bertman had 16 points and Ktisten Baier 14 for the hosts, with the former scoring 12 points in the second half and the latter 10 in the first half.

Abbie Hlas had 10 points, Grace McCartney and Anna Kenny six apiece, Emma Jacobson and A.J. Smith five each, Abby Gonzalez four and Claire Greenslade two.

Perry will play three RRC games in four days next week. They visit Winterset Tuesday, host Carroll in a rescheduled contest Thursday and then entertain Ballard Feb. 1.
