ADM slips past Perry in RRC volleyball

Thursday’s Breast Cancer Awareness volleyball match between ADM and host Perry started well for the home team, but the guests rallied to depart with a 3-1 win.

Both teams had entered winless in Raccoon River Conference play, with ADM ending their regular season 2-17 overall and 1-8 in league play while Perry fell to 3-26, 0-9.

Perry started well, claiming a 25-19 win before ADM answered with a 25-16 victory in set two. A 25-20 Tiger win in the third set and a 25-21 triumph in the fourth set secured the match win.

The Jayettes were playing with senior Kacy Nevitt and missed her output, despite strong play from other team members.

Jasmine Shriver led the team with six kills, with Jayna Kenney adding five, Peyton Tunink four and Ashley Cerna two. Quinn Whiton had nine assists and Kenney five, with Shriver and Cerna adding one assist apiece.

Shriver (16) and Jenisis Cerna (10) had the highest dig totals for Perry. Whiton tallied six digs, Kenney four, Lanie Fish two and Tunink and Kathryn West one each. Fish had one block at the net, with Kenney and Tunink combining for a block.

Jenisis Cerna was 12-of-12 with one ace behind the serving line, with Shriver 11-of-13 and Whiton 10-of-14. Tunink was 10-of-10, Kenney 4-of-5, and Ashley Cerna 6-of-8, as Perry finished 53-62-1 overall, an accuracy rate of 85.5 percent.

ADM struggled in their serve game, converting 72-of-90 (80 percent) but recording 12 aces. Brylee Person (15-16-4) and Katie Cullen (15-18-4) led the way.

Madison Siefken passed out 36 of the 40 Tiger kills, with Campbell James making 14 kills and Cullen 10.

Perry opens postseason action Tuesday at Bondurant-Farrar, with the winner advancing to a Thursday meeting against host DC-G. Matches start at 7 p.m.
