Perry's Natalie Martinez (10) tries to score against Newton as Jaqueline Guardado awaits a possible rebound. The ball seen on the ground is a reserve -- the actual ball in play is entirely hidden between a Cardinal defender and her goalie. Stopping Martinez proved no easy task again this year, as she finished with 29 goals in 16 games.

The Iowa Girls Coaches Association has released their All-State teams, and, as expected, Perry junior Natalie Martinez and Panorama freshman Audrey Cmelik were named to the Second Team in Class 2A and 1A, respectively.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

Martinez stretched the nylon for 29 goals in 16 games while providing one assist. Her 29 successes were fifth-best in 2A and helped Perry finish 10-6 overall. She has 69 career goals in three seasons, including a sophomore season shortened by injury.

Cmelik was an integral part of the first Panorama team to compete in soccer, with the Panthers finishing 12-5 overall. The freshman tied for seventh in 1A with 25 goals. She had 10 assists as well for a fifth-best 1A total of 60 points (players earn two points per goal, one per assist).
