Ashman awarded one of five IFCA scholarships

CEDAR FALLS — Woodward-Granger’s Cole Ashman was one of five seniors statewide from the class of 2015 to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Iowa Football Coaches Association and ACE Fundraising.

The scholarship was officially awarded on the UNI-Dome field Saturday prior to the playing of the 43rd Annual Iowa Shrine Bowl.

Other recipients included Zach Humble of Estherville-Lincoln Central, Patrick Girard of CMB, Evan Economos of Urbandale and Maxwell B. Herbst-Ulmer of Algona.

Ashman will join his older brother, Taylor, in playing football at Simpson College this fall. The Ashman brothers (Taylor was a class of 2013 graduate), Tanner Canova (’14) and 2015 grads Michael Connor and Mason Burkhart will raise the number of former W-G players suiting up for the Storm to five.
