Wednesday’s 12th annual Before the Turkey Soup Supper fundraiser at the First Christian Church in Perry begins at 5 p.m., with all proceeds supporting this year’s Perry Police Department Shop with a Cop program.
For the price of a free-will donation, visitors can choose among a variety of soups, from traditional favorites such as chili, potato soup and ham and bean to rarities such as chicken tortilla, cheeseburger, loaded baked potato and spicy Italian sausage.
Corn bread, oyster crackers and a bevy of dessert dishes will round out the meal, with juices to wash it all down.
Employees and family members from the Perry Police Department will serve the soups, and young people from the EDGE Youth Group of the First Christian Church will be serving the desserts.
An ecumenical prayer service follows at 7 p.m. in the upper sanctuary, provided by the Perry Ministerial Association.
Donations and nominations for the Shop with a Cop Program are still being accepted. You may download the nomination form here and returning it to the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. Contributions may be directed to:
