Dawson’s annual Halloween Party brought about 150 parents and children to the grounds of the Dawson Community Building following the citywide Trick or Treat night.

A circuit of frightful games and fearful contests awaited outside the community building, with Sally Radke supervising the Skittles guessing, Shannon Hellyer at the hat ring toss, Bobby Morman running the beanbag toss and Kaydee Bennett at the basketball contest.

Inside the community building were shadowy spirits eating chili and hotdogs, all courtesy of the city of Dawson.

“This is by far our best year ever for turnout,” said Dawson Mayor Breanna Morman. “We had a lot of people step up and volunteer this year, and it really made a big difference.”

Hayrides, a beloved rural tradition, were available for the little spooks and their chaperones courtesy of Clarence Morman.

Desserts and hot chocolate also fortified the party goers, and a do-it-yourself s’mores table, presided over by Linda Huntington, delivered the tasty treats hot from the Sterno.
