First baseman Avery Meister readies defensively as Janier Puente throws the first pitch of the season for Perry at Progressive Park May 23. Puente struck out the side in the seventh to preserve Perry's 5-2 win at Carroll Wednesday.

BOONE — Perry was blanked on just five hits by Boone’s Dresden Wilson Thursday at the Toreadors scored a 9-0 win over the Bluejays in Raccoon River Conference baseball.

Wilson struck out seven and had plenty of offensive help as the hosts belted 11 hits, scoring four times in the first inning and once in the second before adding three tallies in the fourth. A final run crossed the plate in the sixth to cap the scoring.

Evan Appenzeller drove in four runs with a double and a home run, with Derek Rhinehart finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

The loss came one day after Perry notched their first win of the season, a 5-2 win at Carroll Wednesday.

Alexis Garrido struck out 11 while holding the Tigers to two runs on three hits and four walks in six innings of work. Janier Puente struck out the side in the seventh to collect a save.

Kaleb Olejncizak swiped two bases and scored twice after reaching base four times from his leadoff spot in the Bluejay lineup.

Puente had two RBIs on a pair of base hits, with Adan Medina driving in a run with a suicide squeeze. Kyle Nevitt and Brandon Kenyon also recorded RBIs for the Jays.

The victory followed Tuesday’s 9-3 loss at DC-G, in which the Mustangs scored twice in the fourth, twice in the fifth and four times in the sixth to seize the lead and pull away for the win.

No additional statistical information from Perry on any of the three games was available.
