ADEL — The Perry boys finished with a combined tally of 390 Monday to place seventh in the Raccoon River Conference tourney.
“All-in-all we finished kind of where we have been averaging all season,” Perry head caoch John Fulton said. “I know that we probably could’ve dropped our scores there with the 2-3-4 scores but we did a good job not having multiple blow-up holes.
“Both Luke (Rathje) and Tanner (Duffy) had one bad hole that kind of inflated those scores a bit but they did a good job bouncing back,” he added. “Connor (Nielsen) had a great round, finishing 20th, but only a couple strokes out of all-conference when it was all said and done.”
Nielsen led Perry with a 42-47–89 at the River Valley course. Rathje fired a 51-48-99, Duffy a 52-48–100 and Gabe Ridnour a 50-52–102. Also playing for Perry was Brady Iben, who checked in with a 67-59–126.
“Gabe played his best round of the year and Brady played decently well for his first round of the year,” Fulton said. “We are looking forward to sectionals this Friday (at Oakland Acres GC near Grinnell) and hopefully we can play our best golf as we close up the season.”
ADM shot a 320 to win the team title, with Boone (333) second and Bondurant-Farrar (339) third. Carroll (348), Ballard (348), Winterset (352), Perry (390) and Carlisle (441) completed the field.
Micah Moyer of ADM was overall medalist with his 33-34–67, which was five-under par. Ballard’s Noah Hartman was the runner-up with a 37-39–76, with B-F’s Jayden Brady (39-40–79) and Boone’s Taylor Wauhob and Ben Wagner (both 79) completing the top five individuals.
Adam O’Connor (38-43–81), Matthew West (41-44–85) and Grant Curran (39-48–87) joined Moyer in producing the winning team score.
Tyler Tunning (45-41–86) led Carroll, Braxton Hinders (52-47–99) paced Carlisle, and Jack West (42-43–85) was the low scorer for Winterset.
