Bluejays compete in Mustang Relays

GRIMES — The Perry boys were one of seven teams in action Thursday at the Mustang Relays. Host DC-G compiled 164 points to win the meet, with Gilbert second at 124.5 while Perry finished sixth with 45 points.

Perry won the 4×800 when Brandon Kenyon, Kaleb Olejniczak, Zachary Thompson and Zach Stewart combined to finish in 9 minutes, 6 seconds. The Bluejay 4×400 was also victorious, with Olejniczak, Kenyon, Thompson and Eduardo Sanchez posting a clocking of 3:48.63.

Olejniczak, Reece Dunlap, Kato Dougan and Mana Martinez were third, in 1:37.22, in the 4×200, with the sprint medley unit of Martinez, Dougan, Justin Stammer and Byron Melendrez sixth in 1:50.94.

Dunlap was second and Dougan fourth, in 11.28 and 11.51 seconds, respectively, with Kenyon placing third in the 400 low hurdles in 59.02 ticks.

Perry will return to action Thursday at the Raccoon River Conference meet in Carlisle.
