Keghan West, seen here against Ballard earlier this season, started on the mound for Perry at Carroll Monday.

CARROLL — Four runs in the first inning and six more in the second were more than enough to help propel Carroll to a 13-3 win over Perry in five innings of Raccoon River Conference baseball at Merchant’s Park Monday.

Perry (0-18, 0-13) had scored in their second at-bat and added two runs in the fifth inning, but Carroll (11-11, 5-7) finished off the game early by scoring twice in the fifth after having scored once in the fourth.

Keghan West lasted just 1-2/3 innings for the Bluejays, yielding 10 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits and five walks. He struck out two before being lifted for Alex Morales, who threw 2-2/3 innings. Morales allowed three runs on a hit, three walks and two hit batsmen.

Kato Dougan had two singles, a stolen base, a RBI and a run scored, with Kaleb Olejniczak scoring after singling and swiping a bag. Quinn Helmers had two hits, Morales a hit and a RBI and Conner Kenyon a hit, steal and run scored. West provided the other RBI.

Devin Baack tossed all five frames for the Tigers. He surrendered three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk while recording four strikeouts.

Baack helped himself with a triple and a double, with Cade Schable driving in three runs with a double and a single while Treyton Goins also drove in three runs with a single and a double. Carroll finished with seven total stolen bases.

Perry visits Winterset Wednesday. They will return home Monday for a non-conference visit from Grinnell.
