For one Perry soccer team their next match is old hat; for the other Perry squad it is totally new territory.
Title Tuesday will feature No. 6 Perry (10-3, 5-0) at No. 8 ADM (9-3, 2-1) with the boys Raccoon River Conference title almost certainly on the line for the fourth consecutive year. Perry is the two-time undefeated RRC champion and has won four of the last six league crowns, with ADM interrupting the streak in 2014 and former league rival DC-G in 2012.
The Perry (8-2, 5-0) girls fell from the latest rankings and will host undefeated and fourth-ranked ADM (8-0, 3-0), with the ladies crown also up for grabs.
In both cases Winterset sits in the wings. The Husky boys have been red-hot of late, with their only loss coming to Perry. An ADM win Tuesday would likely create a scenario, barring an improbably outcome over the last few games, in which three teams share the title. A Perry victory would, with a win over a weak Carroll team Thursday, give the Bluejays three consecutive unblemished RRC titles.
The Tiger girls will be visiting a Jayette team that has had trouble putting the ball in the net and might struggle mightily against an ADM defense that has yielded only one goal through eight games. An upset would all but assure Perry their first-ever RRC title, while a loss would leave the team hoping for an unlikely upset of ADM in order to potentially share the honor.
