The playoff route for any winless team is bound to be perilous, but also provides the opportunity for an upset that will enter the lore of any squad that can pull off the unlikely.
That is the situation facing Perry (0-19) who will face host Carroll (15-3) at 8 p.m. Feb. 18 in the quarterfinal round of the Class 3A Substate 8 bracket. Winterset (13-6) will face Harlan (9-7) in the 6:30 p.m. with the winners facing each other at 7 p.m. Feb. 21, the game to be hosted by the higher remaining seed.
Denison-Schleswig (14-4) will face Atlantic (8-10) in the opener and Creston (9-10) battles host Glenwood (14-4) in the nightcap on the opposite side of the bracket.
The Substate 8 Final will be played in Atlantic Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
