WEBSTER CITY — Quarterback Dylan Steen ran for over 200 yards and five touchdowns to lead Webster City to a 42-14 Class 3A District 2 win over visiting Perry Friday.

Steen carried 38 times for 214 yards while visiting the end zone five times. He connected on 5-of-9 passes for 69 yards as the Lynx moved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in D2 play.

Senor Justin Stammer had the best game of his career, scoring a pair of long touchdowns and recovering two fumbles for Perry, but his efforts were not enough to prevent the Bluejays from falling to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in district action.

Steen scored twice in the first quarter, but his scores were split by a 71-yard touchdown pass from Kaleb Olejniczak to Stammer, the longest score of the season for Perry. Mario Cruz added the PAT kick to keep Perry within a score, down 14-7, after one quarter.

Webster City led, 21-7, with just under eight minutes left in the half when Stammer broke loose for a 62-yard touchdown run. A Cruz PAT brought the Jays to within 21-14, but Steen scored with 43 seconds left in the half to give the hosts a 28-14 lead at the intermission.

Trace Kepler scored on a short run in the third quarter and Steen found the end zone for the fifth time in the game late in the fourth period as the hosts pulled away in the second half. Nathan Ferrell drilled all six point-after kicks for the Lynx to help push the score to 42-14.

Olejniczak was under heavy pressure throughout the game and finished by completing only 4-of-20 passes for 89 yards. Kato Dougan had two catches for 12 yards and Jacob Nelson one snag of six yards to go with Stammer’s 71-yard TD.

Stammer finished with a team-high 77 rushing yards and one score on 11 carries, with Olejncizak tallying 21 yards on 12 rushes while Dougan lost three yards on one carry.

Drake Doolittle had 105 rushing yards on 11 runs and Kepler 34 yards and a TD on 10 totes as the hosts amassed 353 ground yards on 59 attempts.

Malachi Montes caught three passes for 46 yards, Kepler one pass for 17 yards and Caleb Olson one aerial for six yards for the Lynx.

Webster City converted 8-of-13 third down attempts and were 2-for-2 on fourth down plays to keep the Perry defense on the field as the hosts ran more than twice as many plays as Perry.

Few flags flew in the contest, with Webster City assessed 30 penalty yards on three infractions while Perry was flagged only twice, for 15 total yards.

Defensive statistics were not available.

Perry returns to action October 5 with a trip to Carroll. The Tigers (3-3, 2-0) were 36-0 winners over Boone in week six action.
