Perry players return to the dugout after Kato Dougan's three-run home run against Boone June 20.

SLATER — Class 3A No. 7 Ballard wasted little time in dismissing Perry from NightHawk Field Thursday as the hosts streaked to a 13-1 win in five innings of Raccoon River Conference baseball.

Ballard (17-3, 10-1) scored three runs in the second inning, then sent eight players across the plate in the third after Perry (0-17, 0-12) had scored once in the top of the frame. Two Bomber runs in the fourth set the mercy rule in effect after the Bluejays failed to score in the fifth.

Kato Dougan allowed 11 runs (eight earned) on six hits and four walks in three innings on the bump, with Alex Morales yielding two runs on two hits and two walks in one frame of work.

Quinn Helmers had two singles for Perry, with Kaleb Olejniczak and Morales each adding a hit. Dougan had a stolen base and scored for the Jays, with Keghan West and Caden Steva drawing walks while Morales was hit by a pitch.

Freshman Jacob Ross scattered four hits, two walks and a hit batter in five innings for the hosts. He yielded one run and struck out four.

Sam Petersen had a triple, Reece Huen two singles and Kade Reinertson a double and a single. Nic Edwards scored three times for the Bombers.

Perry plays twice next week, visiting Carroll Monday and Winterset Wednesday.
