HUXLEY — Ballard made quick work of Perry Tuesday, with the hosts rolling to a 3-0 sweep in their Raccoon River Conference volleyball match.
Ballard (4-3, 3-0) was off to a fast start, winning the first set, 25-8. A 25-15 win followed, with a 25-19 victory in the third set ending the match.
Perry (3-15, 0-3) was not without a bright moment or two, one of which was a career milestone. Senior Sid Vancil had 12 assists in the match, and along the way reached the 1,000 career assist mark. She also had three kills and served 7-of-7.
Jo Diw’s nine kills led the Jayettes, with Isabel Saemisch adding five kills and Gabby West one. Quinn Whiton and Kacy Nevitt each had a block.
Makenzie Ayers provided three assists, Syd Guerra two and Whiton one. Guerra had a team-high eight digs, with Diw making six digs, Magley Orellana four and Ayers and Adriana Eastman one each.
Guerra was 9-of-9 serving and had the lone ace of the match for Perry. Diw was 5-of-7, Saemisch 3-of-3, Nevitt 3-of-4 and both Ayers and West 2-of-2.
Perry will play only twice more this month. The Jayettes host Bondurant-Farrar Tuesday, then visit Carroll Sept. 26.
