BOONE — Perry held a 2-1 lead after one inning of Raccoon River Conference softball Thursday, but three runs in the third and three more int he fifth helped host Boone record a 7-2 win.

Victoria Hegstrom had a RBI-single and a Boone error allowed a second Perry run to score as the Jayettes went in front, 2-0, in the first at-bat.

Boone cut the lead in half in their half of the first inning, then used a key double from Laura Anderson and a Breanna Hunter base hit to move in front, 4-2, after three frames.

Carrie Overland’s triple and three Perry errors allowed three Toreador runs to score in the fifth to account for the final tally.

Emma Oljeniczak struck out 10 in the loss and has now fanned 40 batters in her last 20 innings of her. However, she was touched for seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks in being assessed the loss.
