Perry's Aaron Lyons has resigned his coaching positions -- which include the head varsity spots for boys basketball and baseball -- effective at the end to the current hardball season.

Visiting Carroll stomped to a pair of Raccoon River Conference wins Friday over Perry, winning the girls game by 47 points, only to then post a 51-point margin of victory in the boys meeting.

The Tigers were 75-28 winners in the girls outing, with the boys game ending at 71-20.

Perry (2-2, 0-1) was plagued by turnovers and an inability to simply bring the ball up the court in the opener. The offense was completely shut down from the first moments, with Carroll (3-0, 1-0) opening a 20-3 gulf after just eight minutes before entering the half holding a 42-10 advantage.

The margin swelled to 60-20 after another period of play, with Perry — who was coming off games scoring 77 and 81 points, respectively, held to only 28 points.

Molly Lutmer was able to score just two field goals while making 7-of-8 free throws to lead Perry with 11 points. Michelle Tobar hit the only 3-pointer of the game for the hosts and had a career-best seven point, with Jayna Kenney adding three points. Hannah Peterson, Lydia Olejniczak and Ainsley Marburger all had two points apiece, with Kennedy Tunink adding a free throw.

Carroll drained nine 3-pointers, with all 12 players in uniform scoring. Gabi Hammer had 16 points, Kennedy Lein 12 and Kelsie Reicks nine for the guests, with Hannah Jorgensen and Ella Collison each scoring eight points to help lead the way.

Perry scored 43 points in a 36-point home loss to Carroll last year, but that was a substantial improvement over the 84-15 first meeting between the boys teams.

This season the opening match struggles returned, with Perry — struggling without two starters yet to be cleared for action — fell into a 16-2 hole after one quarter. By the intermission the hosts face a 40-6 deficit, with the gap standing at 50-12 after three frames.

Sincere Johnson and Avery Meister had six points apiece to pace Perry, with Jordan Long adding four points and Keghan West and June Rey Reisberg two each. West have five rebounds, Meister four and Johnson and Long three apiece, with Long also providing a pair of steals.

Additional statistical information, including all Carroll numbers, were not available.

Perry is off until a trip to Stuart to face West Central Valley Thursday. Both teams will then return to action Friday when they host Carlisle.
