Curt and Jane (Stewart) Cavanaugh addressed the crowd at the first "Wrestling For a Cause" triangular, in 2018, which helped raise funds for "Jake Can" the Jake Cavanaugh Foundation. The 2020 edition of the event is set for Jan. 23, with monies raised helping the Jacobson family of Perry.

Perry alumni Curt and Jane Cavanaugh recently extended their thanks to the Perry wrestling community and the Perry public at large for their generosity surrounding the Jan. 18 “Wrestling For a Cause” triangular.

Coon Rapids-Bayard/Glidden-Ralston and Carlisle were the visitors for the event, during which a series of fundraisers of various kinds were held to help support the “Jake Can” foundation, created in memory of Jake Cavanaugh.

Jake’s parents wished to thank the Perry wrestlers, coaches and parents, as well as the Perry community. They noted the efforts provided by Jack and Danene Stewart and the Perry Wrestling Booster Club in making the event a success.

A total of $5,641.90 was raised, with the fund donated to a Coon Rapids family whose daughter is currently battling cancer.

“Jake is looking down and smiling,” Jane said.
