A large number of ballplayers, parents, grandparents and family friends gathered Saturday at the Perry Middle School gym for the opening ceremonies of the 2019 Perry Little League season.

Perry Little League Board member Jason Levan was the master of ceremonies, and each team and its members were introduced, with many youngsters doffing their caps in traditional big-league style. This year some 146 youngsters will fill five T-Ball teams, four Rookie League squads, two Minor League, two Major League and one Junior League teams.

Levan introduced the other board members and thanked the 22 commercial sponsors of this year’s teams.

PHS senior Madison Mason provided an excellent a cappella rendition of the National Anthem after the introductions, followed by a ceremonial First Pitch to open the 2019 Perry Little League season, with Drake Levan hurling and Kain Killmer catching.
