Lynsi Pasutti, executive director of the Perry Chamber of Commerce, was the guest speaker at the March 28 meeting of the Perry Lions Club.

Pasutti gave a history of the Chamber’s activities over the past year and a preview of the chamber’s proposed activities for the coming year as well as long-term plans.

The Chamber’s annual banquet and awards program will be held Tuesday, April 5, she said. Perry Lion Lou Hoger is one of the finalists for the Chamber’s Jack Finneseth Memorial Volunteer Award.

Pasutti said that the Chamber’s Lighted Christmas Parade kicked off the Christmas season in 2021 by bringing out a large crowd of spectators and saw good participation by the businesses and organizations of Perry.

Another success was the BRR! Bike Ride to Rippey, she said, considering the concerns about COVID-19 and the cold weather on the day of the ride. Some 600 people registered for the ride, but a total of 876 riders were counted at the Country Club Road corner. An additional 62 people made a financial donation but did not participate in the ride.

The Chamber’s fundraising for the fireworks display for the Fourth of July celebration has reached the one-third point of the $12,500 goal at this time. Pasutti said the cost of fireworks has increased 30% this year, so more money is needed if the city wants to see a fireworks display like the last July 4 celebration. She said supply chain problems are also a concern because shortages are occurring for some fireworks.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce will have a new website very soon that will list the board of directors, businesses and activities. Individuals can be an Ambassador member of the Perry Chamber of Commerce for $50 a year and civic clubs can be a member for $150 a year.

Ray Harden is the secretary of the Perry Lions Club.
