Full plates and fellowship abound at Perry-area church dinners.

Connoisseur of church dinners Doug Wood of Perry has generously revealed the times and places of many Perry-area church dinners scheduled for the month of October, with special emphasis on dinners sponsored by United Methodist Churches (UMCs).

October 6

  • Breakfast at 7 a.m. in Bouton, 110 E. First St. in Bouton
  • Dinner at 11 a.m. Booneville UMC, 31135 High St. in Booneville
  • Supper at 4 p.m. at the Stuart-Mt. Vernon UMC, 219 N.E. Second St. in Stuart
  • Supper at 4 p.m. at the Polk City UMC, 1421 W. Broadway St. in Polk City

October 7

  • Dinner at 11 a.m. at the Guthrie Center Christian Church, 105 N. Fourth St. in Guthrie Center
  • Chicken dinner at noon at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 220 N. First St. in Panora

October 8

  • Supper at the Bagley UMC, 407 Main St. in Bagley

October 10

  • Supper at the Guthrie Center Immanuel Lutheran Church, 713 N. 12th St. in Guthrie Center

October 17

  • Supper at the Guthrie Center UMC,405 Prairie St. in Guthrie Center

October 18

  • Supper at the Linden UMC, 106 N. Evan St. in Linden

October 21

  • Supper at the Grimes Presbyterian Church, 410 S.E. Third St. in Grimes

  • Hamball dinner and pie at 5 p.m. at the Woodard Christian, 100 S. Main St. in Woodward

Wood predicted the Minburn and Desoto UMCs will host noon dinners on some Saturday in October. He said November’s dinner schedule will be revealed in due course. Proceeds from the dinners support church upkeep and church missions, according to Wood’s sources.
