Ice skating fans were pleased Saturday when the Dallas Center ice rink in Heritage Park officially opened.
Nyle Brown of Bondurant, son of Shelia Brown and grandson of Steve and Stacey Brown, was the first skater to try out the new rink.
Skating is permitted when the green “Rink Open” sign is posted. Skaters are asked to use the steps to enter the rink safely.
The rink has no lights this year, authorities told ThePerryNews.com, and for that reason it will only be open during daylight hours and when it is cold enough to keep the ice frozen.
The rink is not staffed, and skaters skate at their own risk.
