Visitation for Dave Modlin, 67, of Bouton will be Tuesday, Dec. 27 from 5-7 p.m. at Murdock Funeral Home.
Dave passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at his home in Bouton, Iowa, after a brief illness.
Dave Modlin was born Aug. 2, 1955, in Perry, Iowa, the son of Lester Keith “Buck” and Lois A. (Peters) Modlin.
He graduated from Perry High School with the class of 1973.
On March 15, 1975, David married Susan Graney at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry.
He worked as an operations manager for Xenia Rural Water District for the past 35 years.
In the spring and fall, Dave loved helping in the field with planting and harvest.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Dave is survived by his son, Andrew (Lila) Modlin of Bouton; daughter, Abbey (John Logan McManus) Modlin of West Des Moines; grandsons, Rylan and Layne Modlin of Bouton; sister, Jane (Randy) Knudtson of West Des Moines; brother-in-law, Jerry (Shirley) Fouch of the United Kingdom; sister-in-law, Karen (Dale) Berkland of Winterset; special friend, Rhonda Shoafstall of Bouton; and his dog, Tipper.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan on July 13, 2011; and sister, Karen Fouch.
Memorials may be left to Dave’s family for Rylan and Layne’s college fund and sent to Murdock Funeral Home, 1420 Warford St. in Perry. Online condolences may be left at murdockfuneralhome.net.
