Few families have had the impact on the Perry schools as have the Davis clan.

Standout athlete Ron recently passed away, and his widow, Dr. Beverly Davis, has announced that a recurring scholarship, the “Davis Family Memorial Scholarship” will be established at PHS.

“This is a way not only to honor Ron, but his brothers and sisters, his father — the whole family,” she said. “Ron loved Perry so much, and I know this is something he would want to do.”

Details of the program, which would begin with the Class of 2022, are still in the works. The hope is to award one student a gift of from $500-$1,000 each year. Applicants would be required to write a 250-500 word essay.

Other details are yet to be finalized. Those wishing to help establish the scholarship may make tax deductible payments by contacting the Perry Community School District.

“Ron was always wearing Perry and Bluejay shirts and was so proud of where he was from,” Beverly Davis said. “This is just another way we can assure his legacy continues.”
