A Des Moines man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly assaulting a Perry woman and endangering her child.

Ramiro Aramis Pineda Hernandez, 25, of 3720 S.E. 14th St., Des Moines, was charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding blood/air flow with injury and child endangerment.

The incident began about 7:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of First Avenue, where officers of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that Pineda Hernandez allegedly “put her in a choke hold” in the course of a domestic dispute and then “proceeded to push her on the ground and struck her twice in the face, causing her to have a bloody nose,” according to court records.

The victim told the officers that she was “holding her child in her arms” when the alleged assault occurred and that she “had to drop her child due to the defendant grabbing her neck,” according to court records.

The officers “observed physical injury to both parties,” according to court records.

Hernandez is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $7,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 25 in Dallas County District Court.
