Dick Shoesmith of Perry celebrated his 90th birthday Saturday afternoon with a party at the Rowley Masonic Community.
Many friends attended the party, sharing cake and punch and reviving old memories with Shoemaker, who was joined by his wife, Shirley Shoesmith, and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shoesmith retired after 39 years with Iowa Electric Light and Power Co., which later became Alliant Energy. He is a longtime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2060 in Perry.
