With the morning’s rain cleared off, Railroad Street between the libraries also provided room for kids and adults to enjoy space games, a petting zoo and entertainments by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department, including a demonstration of the department’s drone aircraft.

A variety of arts and crafts projects were available inside the library, along with balloon twisting and face painting, and the Perry Kiwanis Club staffed a sandbox in front. Dallas County Conservation’s “Critter Cindy” Blobaum brought a selection of items to delight the youngsters.

The firefighters also prepared and served lunches of hot dogs or pork sandwiches, chips, cookies and water.
