A Celebration of Life service for Donna K. Jurgensen, 79, of Perry and formerly of Woodward will be held Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at the Murdock Funeral Home. A visitation will begin an hour prior to the service.
Donna passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Lutheran Homes’ King’s Garden Campus in Perry, Iowa.
Donna was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on Dec. 29, 1943, the daughter of Lester Harvey and Mildred Lucille (Block) Hanson.
She graduated from Runnells High School.
Donna married Burt Jurgensen on Aug. 7, 1963, in Runnells.
Donna worked at the Woodward State Hospital as a health care worker for many years. Her last job was getting up very early to make donuts for Casey’s before she decided to
retire from the working world.
Mom was the kindest woman that I’ve ever met. She always gave a lot and took very little. She would take in stray kids and some adults and would take care of them with no questions asked.
Mom loved to play games and loved to read. Her favorite channel on television was the paranormal channel, and she would try to pick it apart or really love it!
Above all, she loved her family!
Survivors include her two daughters, Dana Jurgensen of West Des Moines and Breta Jurgensen of Woodward; one son, Curtis Jurgensen of Woodward; two sisters, Marilyn (Frank) Bell and Debra (Rodger) Label; one brother, John Hanson; four grandchildren, Whitney Erickson, Jordan Erickson, Wesley Beardsley and Tyler Beardsley; and four great- grandchildren, Saundra Beardsley and Olivia Beardsley, Levi Crail and Gabrielle Erickson.
Preceding Donna in death were her parents; husband in 2008; one brother, Ronnie Hanson; one sister, Judith Jibaja; and one grandson, Randy Beardsley.
