Perry musician Donna Emmert overcame the stiff spines of several books of sheet music in her Wednesday Fellowship performance at the McCreary Community Building.

Perry musician Donna Emmert played more than a dozen popular songs on the piano at the Wednesday Fellowship at McCreary Community Building.

With tunes ranging in time from the early 1800s to the 1960, Emmert entertained the crowd of about 25 with such pop classics and traditional tunes as “As Time Goes By,” “Sealed with a Kiss,” “Moon River,” “The Girl I Left Behind Me,” “My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean,” “O Susanna,” “Danny Boy,” “Shenandoah,” “Georgie Girl,” “I Got You, Babe,” “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,” “When a Man Loves a Woman” and “Yesterday.”

There were few dry eyes in the house when Emmert rounded out her midday recital with a touching version of the Dolly Parton classic, “Put a Little Love in Your Heart,” popularized by Jackie DeShannon in 1968.

The musical entertainment was followed by a meal of Hallelujah ham balls, cheesy potatoes and mixed vegetables, with a pear slice and tasty banana pudding for dessert.

Marilyn Pentico, coordinator of the Wednesday Fellowship programs, said the age limit for attendance has now been lowered to 50, so all community members aged 50 and above are welcome to the weekly events.
