Emotions raw as team honors classmate involved in fatal auto accident

One day after Jace Garner died in an auto accident, his Danville teammates honored their friend at their State Qualifying Track Meet. What happened next is something to behold ...

Danville High School, located between Mt. Pleasant and Burlington, is mourning the loss of junior Jace Garner, who was killed in an auto accident Wednesday.

WAYLAND — WACO hosted a Class 1A State Qualifying Track Meet Thursday, and Danville was one of the teams in action.

Missing, however, was Jace Garner, a sprinter for the Bears. The junior had died Wednesday in an auto accident, leaving his community in a state of shock.

Ben Schuff of Burlington newspaper The Hawk Eye was on hand to cover the meet, and captured how Garner’s team — and all the others present — chose to honor their friend.

Schuff’s video needs no further description.
