Fall practices begin for all schools

First action for each sport at Perry, W-G and Panorama listed.

The football, cross country, volleyball and girls swimming seasons began Monday at Perry and all area schools.

Perry’s fall schedule begins with Jayette swim team hosting Algona at the MCB pool August 23, one of four times this season the two schools will compete against each other (the other three occasions being triangular meets).

The Perry volleyball season also begins August 23 when the Jayettes the join Fort Dodge St. Edmond at Greene County for a triangular.

The Perry football team hosts Greene County in the 87th Cowbell Game August 24 in their season opener, with the Perry cross country teams not in action until a September 4 trip to the Winterset Invitational.

Woodward-Granger’s fall sports slate starts August 23 when West Central Valley visits the Hawks. The Hawk gridders host Madrid August 24 in the first Friday night under the lights, with the W-G harriers running at Jester Park August 27 to open their campaign.

Panorama’s volleyballers will be in action August 21 and 23, hosting Interstate-35 before traveling to Earlham. The Panther cross country teams — now competing in Class 2A — will begin their season August 23 at the Gilbert Invite, which is held on the Iowa State University course. The Panorama football team plays at Fort Dodge St. Edmond August 24 to kick off their season.
