Generous customers of the Perry Fareway store will have a chance to show their support for the Relay for Life of Dallas County this week, when the annual round-up fundraiser starts its six-day run.
Fareway shoppers are invited to round up their purchase totals to the nearest dollar, with the difference going to the Dallas County Relay for Life, which celebrates the lives of cancer victims and survivors and funds cancer research.
The American Cancer Society, which sponsors the Relay for Life, estimates there will be about 1.7 million new cancer cases diagnosed this years and about 600,000 cancer deaths in the U.S.
The 2018 Relay For Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Perry High School track. Registration starts at 2 p.m., with opening ceremonies at 4 p.m. and closing ceremonies at 9:30 p.m.
