Leroy and Geneen Tibben make a sale to Jason Levan Thursday at the Perry Farmer's Market in Josh Davis Plaza.

“It always starts real busy, then it will slow down a little bit before it picks back up again,” Gerald Deal said. “That is how it has been for several weeks — people like being here when we open, then it is slow but steady.”

Deal was speaking from his stand just outside Josh Davis Plaza Thursday during Perry’s Farmers Market. His stand was erected along the sidewalk on Second Street, with numerous other vendors lining either side of the plaza.

All appeared to doing business that, if not what any would call bustling, was at least steady.

Tim and Lisa Roush of Perry snap up a dozen ears of sweet corn from Gerald Deal of Jefferson.

Several shoppers were asked how they preferred the new location and whether parking was a negative drawback, with all respondents speaking in the positive about the change.

One customer noted “I have to walk farther to get in the door at Wal-Mart than I do here. It’s no big deal,” while another said her parking experience varied based upon the time she stopped by the market, which is open from 4-7 p.m. every Thursday through October.
