WINTERSET — Concern for weather pushed Perry’s varsity softball game at Winterset into the 5:30 p.m. slot in hopes the contest could be held without interruption.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

The fifth-rated Huskies (20-7, 6-2) helped ensure no such break in the action by swiftly dismissing the Jayettes (8-13, 0-7), 10-0, in five innings.

Sophie Stover pitched three innings, walking two batters and striking out five, with Madison Berns allowing one hit while fanning two in two innings of work.

Danny Barker had two doubles and three RBIs and Emma Lowden a pair of doubles to spark the hosts, who scored six times in the second inning, three times in the third and once in the fourth.

Eighth grader Jayna Kenney suffered the loss. She surrendered 10 hits (seven earned) on 10 hits and three walks.

Kenney’s single was the lone hit for Perry.

Perry returns to action Wednesday with a trip to Carroll, with a visit to Boone on the docket for Thursday before the Jayettes participate in the Pella Christian Tournament Saturday.
