SAYDEL — The hosts Eagles ran one running play — a kneel-down to end the second quarter — in bursting to a 24-0 halftime lead over the Bluejays. The hosts used their aerial game to shred the Perry defense, with quarterback Judd Roberts tossing five touchdowns en route to a 44-0 win.
Saydel (1-1) won for the first time since Sept. 15, 2017, while Perry (0-2) has not tasted victory since Oct. 20, 2017.
Up next for Perry is a trip to Class 3A top-ranked DC-G, a 35-14 winner over North Polk Friday.
PANORAMA 41, CLARINDA 31
CORNING — Class 1A No. 9 Panorama (1-1) fell into a surprising 31-20 hole at the half, but scored three unanswered TDs in the second half to overcome Clarinda, 41-31.
The game was played at Southwest Valley, as the Clarinda grid was recently reseeded and not ready for action. Panorama will now host Van Meter, a 40-0 winner over Earlham.
WOODWARD-GRANGER 42, OGDEN 14
OGDEN — W-G was in control throughout, building a 23-0 halftime lead. The Hawks led, 36-0, at one point on their way to the win over the Bulldogs, who fell to 1-1 with the loss. W-G (2-0) has now outscored their two opponents 91-20 this season.
A visit to AC/GC is on tap for W-G. The Chargers were 43-7 victors over Central Decatur Friday.
