A book fair was among the stations at the St. Patrick Catholic School open house Friday night.

This week’s Friday night fish fry coincided with the annual open house at St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and attendance at the combined events was large.

Current students served as tour guides prospective students and their parents, with a number of stops along the way, including a display of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) projects such as microscope slides and ramps and pathways.

The school’s highly effective Leader in Me program had a station explaining its principles, and youngsters in the faith station had some hands-on fun creating a mosaic cross.

St. Pat’s Principal Eddie Diaz said some half-a-dozen prospective students and their parents attended the open house, where they were also treated to a free fish meal courtesy of the Knights of Columbus.

Fundraising is one of the many things that public and parochial schools have in common, and sportswear and raffle tickets were available at the fish dinner.
