Titans of trivia, from left, Suzanne Kestel, Vicki Lage, Julie Scheib, Deb Van Gundy and Barb Ferguson were not easily stumped at the Friends of the Perry Public Library's trivia contest fundraiser Thursday night in downtown Perry.

What blood-sucking worms have been promoting circulation for centuries? No, not the liberal media, but leeches.

About 100 trivia buffs and others were spellbound by this and similar questions Thursday night when the Friends of the Perry Public Library held a trivia contest fundraising in downtown Perry.

“Everyone brought their friends – and their game faces – and enjoyed the evening,” said Perry Public Library Director Mary Murphy.

Individuals or teams of as many as eight members could register, with registration at $10 per person. A prize was awarded to the winning team.

The Friends of the Perry Public Library’s next fundraiser is March 4 at 6 p.m., when painting instructor Jolene Peters of Art on the Fly will help attendees discover their creative talents and guide them in the creation of a mixed-media canvas painting. No previous painting experience is required.

The $40-per-person cost goes to support the activities of the Friends of the Perry Public Library. For more information, call the library at 515-465-3569.
