The Perry Volunteer Fire Department hazmat crew responded to a fuel spill following a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of Tyson Fresh Meats near Perry.

Firefighters with the Perry Volunteer Fire Department were still sweating from their response to a house fire on west Lucinda Street Wednesday afternoon when they were called about 2:45 p.m. to the scene of a second incident: a two-car crash in the nearby parking lot of Tyson Fresh Meats.

No injuries were reported, but fuel spilled from one of the vehicles and brought the PVFD hazmat team to the scene. One of the vehicle’s bumpers also appeared to be torn off.

The circumstances of the collision are unknown at this hour. Shift changes at the 1,200-worker pork plant sees increased vehicular traffic. The company has recently enlarged the parking area on the plant’s south side.

The Perry Police Department and the Dallas County EMS also responded to the incident.
