Greene County netters spoil Senior Night for Perry

Greene County improved to 15-20 overall with a 3-0 sweep of host Perry Monday, a loss that sent the Jayette volleyball team to 12-21 for the season.

Perry honored five seniors before the contest, as Mariah Duffy, Victoria Hegstrom, Taylor Lathrum, Ellie Nielsen and Sara Weir took their final bows on the Jayette home court.

The Rams raced to a 25-12 win in the first game, with a strong Jayette effort to win game two and force at least four sets falling short, as the guests claimed a 29-27 victory. Greene County ended the non-conference match with a 25-15 win in game three.

Nielsen had 12 kills for Perry, with Jo Diw adding eight kills, Lathrum six, Adrian Thompson four and Hegstrom two. Duffy led the team with 13 digs, with Sid Vancil making six digs while Nielsen and Sydney Guerra had three apiece, Lathrum and Diw two apiece and Hegstrom one.

Diw served 11-of-14 with three aces, with Thompson 5-8-2 and Hegstrom 6-7-1 while Vancil was 8-of-8, Nielsen 7-of-8 and Lathrum 4-of-6.

Nadia Fisher paced the Ram offense with 13 kills, with Hannah Promes providing 22 assists and 12 digs while Alison Gallagher had 16 digs and Kenna Marquardt and Hannah Stein nine digs apiece. Fisher, Megan Durbin and Nicole Rohner were all credited with two blocks each.

Gallagher served 21-26-5, Promes 17-18-3, Katelyn Hagen 13-13-1 and Fisher 12-13-1 to lead the Rams behind the line.

Perry will complete their regular season Thursday with a visit to Boone.
