Apparently not only was Thursday Halloween, but it was also laundry day, as this trio of trick-or-treaters attested. Local youth -- and those not so young -- celebrated the holiday throughout the community.

The annual Perry Chamber of Commerce Spooktacular kicked off a wide series of Halloween celebrations throughout the city Thursday.

Youngsters — and a goodly number of costumed adults — flowed through numerous stops along Second Street, where candy and snacks were being distributed. The yearly collection of both the spooky and the adorable began gathering at 4 p.m. and continued until 6 p.m.

Several businesses, retirements homes and local venues also welcomed Trick-or-Treaters, with a large number of excited youngsters spreading through many neighborhoods as well.
