The Woodward-Granger boys had their season end Monday with a loss to Interstate-35.

WOODWARD — Host Woodward-Granger finished second at Friday’s Class 2A sectional golf meet, sending the Hawk boys to the May 17 district meet at Carroll Country Club. The 2A state meet will be hosted by the American Legion GC in Marshalltown.

Des Moines Christian swept the four lowest individual scores en route to posting a winning 322, with Woodward-Granger edging Roland-Story, 368-371, for second place. Because W-G was the hosts, R-S will also advance as a team to the district meet.

Other individuals — not from a qualifying team — who will compete at district are West Marshall’s Conly Petermeier (44-41–85) and Caleb Keigan (51-44-95).

West Marshall was fourth in the team standings at 374, with Madrid (421), Colfax-Mingo (425) and Colo-NESCO/Collins-Maxwell (531) also in action.

Cody Peters led W-G, as he has all season, with a 41-46–87. Trey Lettow was sharp with a 44-44–88, with Nick Buch stepping up to card a 49-47–96 while Colby Tague helped ensure advancement with his 46-51–97. Also playing for W-G were Hunter Pifer (42-50–102) and Brandon Worley (51-56–107), both of whom have been in the scoring quartet throughout a strong season for the Hawks, who are coached by David Combs.

DMC received scoring cards form Nate Juffer (41-38–79), Jake Weisenburger (40-39–79), Grant Christy (41-40–81) and Tommy Weissenbuger (43-40–83). Matt Wynne (44-44–88) and Nick Nelson (44-45–89) also made the circuit for the Lions.

Madrid was paced by Tyler Lawrenson (48-53–101). Logan Wicker shot a 51-54–105, Trent Larson a 52-54–106 and COlton Eccles a 57-52–109.
