Colfax-Mingo emerged with a 22-18 win over the Woodward-Granger boys cagers in a two-quarter scrimmage Monday.
W-G faced a 10-8 deficit after eight minutes of play, but was outscored 12-10 in the next eight minutes in taking the setback.
Cameron Hoyt had nine points and two steals for W-G, with Bryce Achenbach tallying three points, three steals, three caroms and two assists. Marcus McConahay, Brody Easter and Bodie Harrison each had two points for the Hawks, with Harrison clearing six rebounds.
W-G sank just 1-of-11 3-point attempts and finished 7-of-29 from the floor while converting on 5-of-7 free throws.
The squad opens their season Tuesday when they join the Hawk girls in hosting West Central Valley for a WCC set. The girls game will begin at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow. Both W-G teams will host Martensdale-St. Marys Dec. 1 before visiting Des Moines Christian Dec. 2.
