IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa softball complex did little to endear itself to the Woodward-Granger softball team, as the Hawks dropped all four of their games at the Clear Creek-Amana tourney Friday and Saturday.

The Hawkeye diamonds hosted the event, in which W-G experienced two losses in the final inning and two lopsided losses — one of each variety on each day of the tourney.

W-G opened play Friday by suffering a 9-8 setback to CC-A. The Hawks scored twice in the top of the seventh to grab an 8-7 lead, but the hosts scored twice in their final at-bat to steal the win. Riley Jamison’s two-run home run served as a highlight for W-G.

West Branch was a 16-6 winner in W-G’s other game Friday, with DC-G posting an 8-0 win in the first game for the Hawks Saturday.

The tourney ended in nearly the same fashion as it opened for the Hawks, as W-G scored three times in the top of the seventh to grab a 6-4 lead over Iowa City Regina, only to see the Regals plate three runs in their final at-bat to capture the victory.
