Hawk golfers play at Wildcat Quadrangular

MENLO — The 5×80 Golf Course was the site Friday for a four-team meet hosted by West Central Valley. Woodward-Granger, CAM, and Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton were also in action.

E/EH-K fired a 176 to win the boys side, with WCV nipping CAM, 187-189, for second place while W-G shot a combined 196. CAM topped W-G, 202-227, in the girls meet, as E/EH-K and WCV each had only three golfers competing, with four required to post an official team score.

Ev Carroll of E/EH-K won the boys medalist honors with a 39, with teammate Will Carroll tying WCV’s Garret Caltrider for the runner-up spot with rounds of 41.

Nick Brummond led W-G with a 44, with Trey Lettow shooting 50 and both Coby Peters and Hunter Pierce rounds of 51 for the Hawks. Jimmy Guzzi had a 53 and Nick Buch a 72 for W-G, though neither scored was tabulated.

Tyler Peterson (47) and Cole Burmeister (49) also scored for E/EH-K, with Grant Caltrider (47), Cole Arnburg (48) and Evan Taylor (51) scoring for WCV while Ben Tibken (43), Tyler Kopp (44), Kade Nelson (49) and Kaleb Venteicher (50) produced the tally for CAM.

CAM’s Sammi Jahde (44) and Ericka Stender (48) won the girls medalist race, with Halie Gregorich (52) and Madison Gettler (58) also scoring for the Cougars.

Cierra DeHoet’s 51 was the low card for W-G, with Aubrey Mescher shooting a 56, Emily Trewet at 58 and Megan Burkhart a 62. Bailey Thompson (67) also played for the Hawks.

Jaicee Wathne had a 53 for WCV, with Darby Davis adding a 56 and Emma Johnson a 62 while E/EH-K received a 52 from Jacey Anthofer, a 54 from Mary Carroll and a 66 from Shelby Young.

W-G will travel to Lakeside Country Club in Winterset Monday for the WCAC meet, with Earlham serving as host school. The tournament will start at 9 a.m.
