Hawk, Panther baseball discover postseason slate

Four players from Panorama have collected honors for their efforts this summer.

Woodward-Granger and Panorama have learned the respective routes leading to the state baseball tournament for each squad.

W-G has earned a bye in Class 2A District 12 play and will await the winner of the July 13 battle between Pleasantville and Colfax-Mingo. The Hawks will host the July 16 contest, with the winner returning to Granger July 20 for the district final.

Madrid faces Woodward Academy, with the winner drawing Des Moines Christian, on the bottom half of the bracket.

The D12 winner faces the D11 winner in Nevada, July 23, in the Substate 6 Final. Third-ranked Dike-New Hartford and South Hamilton are the two teams receiving byes in D11.

Panorama hosts AC/GC July 13 at 7 p.m. following a 5 p.m. meeting between Mt. Ayr and WCV. Both winners advance to Van Meter July 16, with the Panorama vs. AC/GC winner playing Interstate-35 at 5 p.m. while the Mt. Ayr/WCV victor battles No. 6 Van Meter at 7 p.m. The D14 final is July 20 in Van Meter.

Ankeny Centennial will host the Substate 7 Final, which will pit the D13 and D14 winners. Ogden and Kuemper Catholic each received byes in the D13 bracket.
