OGDEN — Sophomore Denali Loecker struck out 12 in a five-inning no-hitter as Ogden whipped Woodward-Granger, 11-0, Tuesday.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

The game was the season opener for W-G, while Ogden was coming off a 2-1 loss to Humboldt Monday. The Bulldogs were 5-2 winners over Boone Wednesday to move to 2-1 overall.

Loecker faced only one base runner, as lead-off hitter Katelyn Bandstra began the game by reaching on an error. Bandstra stole both second and third base but was left stranded.

The hosts wasted little time in knocking the ball around the diamond, using five hits and three infield errors to plate six runs in the first inning.

W-G starter Ava Petersen was lifted for fellow freshman Elly Polich, who tossed the second and third innings, yielding four runs on six hits while striking out one. Loecker aided her own cause with a three-run home run in the third.

Petersen returned to the circle to pitch the fourth, surrendering a run on four hits.

W-G hosts AC/GC tonight. They will then face Central Lee at 12 p.m. and host Centerville at 2 p.m. in tourney play Saturday.
