W-G's Brandon Worley makes contact earlier this season. Worley allowed four hits and no runs in Tuesday's win over Roland-Story, the 150th win for Hawk skipper Eric Evans.

GRANGER — Roland-Story proved little problem for Woodward-Granger Tuesday, with the host Hawks rolling to a 10-0 non-conference win in five innings.

The victory lifted W-G to 21-7 overall and gave head coach Eric Evans his 150th win as the Hawk skipper.

Evans came aboard in 2011 and was 7-15 and 13-16 in his first two seasons. Since then the trend has been nothing but positive, with W-G’s senior class a combined 84-35 entering tonight’s regular season finale against visiting West Marshall.

Brandon Worley held Roland-Story (14-16) to just four hits in five innings on the bump. He issued one walk and struck out six batters.

Jack Grell was potent from his spot at the bottom of the lineup, providing two singles and driving in three runs while stealing three bases and scoring twice. Bryce Achenbach added a pair of hits, two runs and two RBIs and a stolen base in the win.

W-G will host the winner of Saturday’s Colfax-Mingo vs. Pleasantville battle on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a  Class 2A District 12 semifinal. A win would keep the Hawks at home for the D12 Final on July 20. Des Moines Christian faces the Madrid vs. Woodward Academy winner on the lower half of the bracket.
