Matt Buch is about to take one for the team last summer. He had two singles, a double and two RBIs in Tuesday's win at AC/GC.

GUTHRIE CENTER — Woodward-Granger scored 12 times off of 12 hits and survived erratic pitching to claim a 12-8 WCAC win over host AC/GC Tuesday. The victory followed a 13-3, five-inning win by W-G in the first meeting of the season between the two, May 24.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

W-G (5-2, 3-1) sent five pitchers to the mound, and while the quintet allowed only five hits, they issued 15 walks against eight strikeouts.

Caden Easter tossed 2/3 of an inning, allowing three runs on one hit and hive walks. Alex Bice tossed 4-1/3 frames of middle relief, yielding two unearned runs on four walks and three hits while striking out five, with Nick Brummond grabbing the win in 1-1/3 innings, during which he allowed an unearned run on one hit and two walks.

Jay Dorenkamp and Joe Rhodes each recorded one out from the hill, with Rhodes walking four and surrendering two runs. Easter, Brummond and Dorenkamp each struck out one.

AC/GC had taken a 3-0 lead, but W-G scored four times in the second, with each team scoring one in the third for a 5-4 Hawk lead. Two scores in the fourth and five more in the fifth pushed W-G in front by a 12-4 margin, with AC/GC able to score twice in each of the final two at-bats, although the push was not enough to catch the visitors.

Matt Buch had two singles, a double and two RBIs for W-G, with Bryce Achenbach smacking a double and a triple while scoring twice and driving in one. Dorenkamp and Reese Jamison each had two singles and both drove in two runs, with Cole Theisen swatting a solo home run.
