GRANGER — Lightning strikes and impending rain caused Tuesday’s WCAC baseball game between AC/GC and host Woodward-Granger to be called official after five innings of play.

W-G (19-7, 16-6) held a 5-1 lead, which became final, dropping the Chargers to 3-22 overall and 2-20 in conference play.

Newell Rogers reached on an error and scored in the top of the first to give AC/GC a brief 1-0 lead, with W-G tying the game in their first at-bat with a single tally.

Four Hawks runs in the third proved to be enough in the long run as W-G matched their win total from last season.

Caden Easter held the Chargers without a hit and yielded just two runs in five frames on the bump. He finished with eight strikeouts in picking up the win.

W-G had just three hits in the win, with Trevor Simmons providing a double and a single while Pacey Moats singled. Simmons stole two bases and scored once, with Moats scoring twice and swiping one bag.

Jack Grell walked and stole three bases while scoring once, with Reese Jamison scoring after walking a stealing a base. Simmons finished with two RBIs, with Moats and Jamison also driving in runs.

W-G will conclude their regular season with a pair of non-conference home games next week. The Hawks will host Roland-Story Tuesday before receiving a visit from past-day rival West Marshall Thursday.
