Hawks pick up trio of mat victories Tuesday

OGDEN, Iowa — The Woodward-Granger wrestlers posted team wins in all of their matches at a quadrangular Tuesday.

W-G bested host Ogden, 47-26, and Perry, 60-21, while defeating Colfax-Mingo, 63-12. Other matches saw Ogden top both Colfax-Mingo (55-24) and Perry (52-30) with Perry a 46-33 winner over Colfax-Mingo.

Alex Saxton recorded pins in 1 minute, 33 seconds, in 3:25 and in just 48 seconds to finish 3-0 at 106 pounds, with James Dorrian 3-0 with two pins and a technical fall at 126.

Holden Heard was 3-0 at 120 with two decisions and a forfeit while two forfeits and one pin allowed heavyweight Alex Evans to finish 3-0.

Senior Dustin Harney reached the 100-career victory plateau Saturday and added three wins to his total Tuesday. He received a forfeit at 160, then moved up to 170 with win by pin in 2:52 and 1:32.

Also posting a 3-0 mark was 152-pounder Brayden Simons, for won by pin in 1:06 and in 3:35 while collecting one forfeit.

Finishing 2-1 were Abraham Bell (one pin, one forfeit) at 113, Jayden Flugge-Smith (two pins) at 132, Tjaden Smeltzer (one pin, one forfeit) at 138, Jackson Potter (one pin, one foreit) at 170 and 182 and Kolby Fogarty (one pin, one forfeit) at 182 and 195.

W-G left the 220-pound class open and forfeited once at 195, with Cayden Van Meer unable to collect a win in three matches at 145.

The Hawks will return to Ogden Saturday to participate in the Bulldog Invitational.
